Thank you for your interest in River's Edge Academy Charter School.
An Informational Meeting is required for parents and prospective students and will help you make the best-informed decision regarding your child's education.
Each student has unique ways of learning and doing school. Our model of schooling can be a good match for some students and not for others.
We want you to make the best-informed decision regarding your child's education. This survey will help to determine if River's Edge Academy Charter School (REACH) is the 'right fit' for your family.
After completion of the survey, please view your score. A score of 9 points or more would show a greater opportunity for success within our program. A score of 8 or below may indicate that REACH is not the best educational choice for your family.
The student will need a positive learning environment and an appropriate setting while working on schoolwork at home.
Parent/Guardian (Learning Coach) and student are expected to work collaboratively with their teachers with the main goal being the student's success.
The Learning Coach (parent/guardian) and/or Student are responsible for communicating and reaching out to teachers when extra help is needed. REACH teachers are available for support and clarification.
The Learning Coach (parent/guardian) needs to be available to the student every school day. On the days your student is at home, you can expect to spend 3 to 6 hours working with your student.
The Learning Coach (parent/guardian) will have access to the student's courses to monitor academic progress.
Students need to be self-directed in all grade levels. Learning Coaches (parent/guardian) are expected to provide and support the student's schedule and to monitor their academic progress. The Learning Coach helps young learners understand what to do each day and how to do it.
Students are expected to make daily progress on their schoolwork in Canvas courses. The minimum expectation is that the student is actively engaged in their learning for 5 or more hours on school days.
All students are required to participate in diagnostic assessments (3 times per year) and Statewide Assessments (one time a year).
While technology is part of the schooling experience, students must understand that academics are the priority.
Learning Coaches and students should be comfortable with technology to communicate, collaborate, and work within the REACH online platforms.
REACH offers the Community as the Classroom where students can study through one of our Community Partners. The student can take lessons in music, art, dance, tutoring, physical education, and more.
